Minfeng
I'm a screenwriter and director living in Suzhou, China. Besides my profession, I love photography, traveling, and good food.
I've been teaching Chinese to foreign students since my university days.
My teaching philosophy is to approach it like how we Chinese students learned our language in school, starting from pinyin and then teaching the evolution of Chinese characters in terms of their shapes, pronunciations, and meanings, before moving on to reading and writing in Chinese.
I select beautiful Chinese poetry, novels, and articles to let students experience the endless charm of the language throughout history, while also gaining a solid understanding of Chinese culture as a whole.
Of course, learning from everyday life and eventually applying it in daily situations is the fundamental method and goal of my Chinese teaching.
When you book a trial lesson with me, you'll step into the world of Chinese just like a Chinese elementary school student, discovering the completely different logic behind Chinese characters compared to English, along with the principles of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
I'll help you appreciate the charm of pictographs from visuals to written form. Starting with pinyin, English speakers can easily grasp the rules of Chinese pronunciation.
As a film industry professional, learning Chinese with me will not only cover the basics of the language but also provide you with deeper artistic, literary, philosophy, history and cultural insights into Chinese civilization and spiritual exchange.
If you already have a certain level of Chinese, I will create a personalized learning plan for you and help you achieve it.
