Hello! My name is Waqar Hussain Shah, and I am excited about the opportunity to be your online tutor. Currently, I am pursuing a doctorate in Mathematics from the University of Guadalajara. My passion for mathematics and teaching has led me to seek opportunities where I can share my knowledge and help students achieve their academic goals.
During my master's program, I delved into the complex world of Topological Data Analysis, focusing on the classification of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia cells, a common childhood blood cancer. This research was particularly challenging due to the morphological similarities between normal and immature leukemic blast cells. However, it provided me with a profound understanding of how advanced mathematical techniques can be applied to solve real-world problems.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I have practical research experience as a Research Assistant at FAST-National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences. Here, I worked on an impactful project that utilized the Stoic Dataset, created by Cochin Hospital Paris, to classify and predict the severity of COVID-19 in lungs using CT scan images. This project, part of the Stoic-Challenge-2021, honed my skills in data analysis, machine learning, and medical imaging, further broadening my expertise.
My teaching experience includes serving as a Lecturer at ARMY Public School and College, where I had the privilege of guiding students through various mathematical concepts. I take pride in my ability to make complex topics accessible and engaging. I believe that learning mathematics can be a fun and rewarding experience, and I strive to create a supportive and interactive learning environment.
Moreover, I hold certifications in 'Python for Machine Learning' and 'MATLAB for Maths and Data Science,' which enable me to incorporate modern computational tools into my teaching. These skills are particularly beneficial for students interested in the intersection of mathematics, programming, and data science. I also utilize different graphical applications to provide better interpretations of mathematical concepts, making abstract ideas more concrete and understandable.
One of my proudest achievements was being awarded a laptop by the Government of Pakistan, which recognized my academic excellence and dedication. This honor has motivated me to continue striving for excellence in all my endeavors.
