Mi sono diplomata, con il voto 100/100, presso il Liceo Classico Statale "Nicola Spedalieri" di Catania, dove ho svolto anche un tirocinio formativo di alcune settimane. Adesso sono una studentessa di Lettere classiche ormai al termine del mio percorso di studi in triennale. Ho già qualche anno di esperienza nel campo delle lezioni private (latino e greco) e del doposcuola ai ragazzini più piccoli. In my lessons I tend to include some grammar ( I know it sounds boring but it can truly be made fun ), some vocabulary and also writing - a holistic approach which I have found works best.

Hello, Everyone! My name is Eftychia (or Effie), which means “Happiness” in Greek and I offer happiness to the people who would love to learn Greek. My goal is to keep the Greek language alive and thriving for another five-thousand of years! I am a teacher in Greece with a Masters Degree in Education. I have lived in New York but am currently on a Greek island. In New York, I worked in Greek-bilingual schools while studying at Hunter College (CUNY). I used to work in the public school system in Greece but now I have the pleasure of being the Head of Studies at the Greek-American Non Profit Organization that promotes Greek culture and education. I am also currently working on my PhD in Digital Media and Communication at the Ionian University of Greece. Most of my students are Greek-American and bilingual. I have 13 years of teaching experience in New York and in Greece, teaching Greek as a first and as a second language. I can teach Greek (A1-C2 level) depending on my students needs. I can direct you on A2 and B1 language requirement for the permanent residency/naturalisation in Greece. I am highly experienced in preparing individuals for the GCSE, ellinomatheia and regents (certificates of proficiency in Greek language). Of course every student is different so I make sure to provide a customized program for everyone wanting to learn greek, specified to your needs, while moving at your pace.
My methodology is based on Constructivism which is the notion that people actively construct their own knowledge, and that reality is determined by your experiences as a learner. The major concept is that my students use their previously learned knowledge as a foundation and build on it with new things that they learn. My subject expertise is: modern Greek and Greek history, not just the basic history that is written in handbooks, but from the “inside” history.

As the holder of a teaching diploma of the Greek language from the University of Aristotle of Thessaloniki and a Master 2 of research in Classical Letters from Paris IV-Sorbonne, I created learning supports specific to teaching Greek to French-speaking people based on my experience of teaching at home or on the Internet.
My students are very diverse: children and adults, people who want to learn the Greek language as a foreign language or bilingual people or even Greeks who live abroad. We progress together from the beginner level to the most experienced level.
In general, my methodology adapts to the needs, objectives and age of each student. I have created and continue to create interactive online exercises that make the learning process fun and enjoyable. With these, I also provide the diverse material necessary for the courses.
Besides that, I also give more specialized courses: conversation courses for those who want to focus on their ability to communicate; courses on professional objectives for those who want to work in Greece; intensive courses for those who want to learn quickly to live or stay in Greece (ideal for the Erasmus program).
