I'm Sophie, a recent graduate of the University of Chicago, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in computer science. I began tutoring in 9th grade and continued through college, totaling 9 years of tutoring. My coursework and previous tutoring experience enable me to offer tutoring across a wide range of subjects. My offerings include: math (elementary arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra 1&2, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, & calculus); science (biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy & physiology ); English (literature, grammar, composition); and computer science (C/C++, Python, JavaScript, SQL, algorithm analysis). I can also provide tutoring for a selection of AP classes, SAT/ACT preparation, and college admission essay writing. I primarily tutor high school students, but I have also worked with middle and elementary schoolers. I am particularly passionate about math, which is many students' most hated subject. Math is a language; it has its own vocabulary, syntax, grammar, and semantics. As a tutor, it is my job to translate the language of math into my students' "learning language." Some like visual learning—pictures and graphs. Others prefer example-based lessons that relate to a "real life" experience, or perhaps tie in to a concept from another class. Sometimes students benefit from thinking aloud. Certain students want time to work through a new problem on their own before I give the lesson. My favorite part of tutoring is figuring out my students' learning language. It is incredibly rewarding for both of us. I can’t promise to turn a math-hater into a math-lover, but I can promise to make math more accessible and help my students succeed in class. Soy estudiante de la carrera de Historia por la universidad de Málaga, desde pequeña me ha gustado dar clases y ayudar a los demás a aprender y comprender. Creo que quien decida confiar en mí para darle clase va a quedar satisfecho, soy una persona muy profesional y responsable, voy a poner todos mis ánimos para que las clases no solo sean amenas sino efectivas. Creo que las clases particulares personales son mucho más efectivas que la educación convencional al poder poner un mayor foco de atención en las necesidades del alumno, algo de vital importancia. Busco no solo que mis alumnos aprueben, sino que afiancen un método de estudio y desarrollen el carácter crítico y lógico para poder seguir su camino académico sin problemas. Estoy disponible para dar clases de todas las asignaturas en un nivel de secundaria o bachillerato social/humanistico. Aunque mi carrera profesional haya ido rumbo a las humanidades una de mis grandes pasiones es la ciencia, por lo que no tengo ningún problema en ayudar en disciplinas como Matemáticas o estadística. Espero que al ver este anuncio decidan contar con mi apoyo, os animo a tener una clase de prueba sin compromisos. Estoy abierta a dar clases online y a moverme de domicilio sin gastos aparte, además de hacer descuento si se da la decisión de dar más de una clase, pudiéndose descontar hasta dos euros por clase.
