È importante approcciarsi alla chimica o alla biologia, passo dopo passo. Mi piace far lavorare molto sul ragionamento. Aiutare con schemi/riassunti o power point da me realizzati, su richiesta. Puntare all'essenziale per poi riuscire a comprendere l'intera materia, passo per passo. Sto vicino al ragazzo, finchè non ha compreso l'argomento. Ci vuole tanta pazienza e impegno per imparare. Ad ogni fine capitolo/argomento propongo piccoli esoneri per riuscire a fare il passo in avanti, così da poter tornare indietro e avere la certezza di avere le basi per poter andare avanti. Hi! I'm Tobi. I studied Biology as my premedical course of study and am currently attending medical school, where there's even more biology involved (like, a lot more: biochemistry, cellular biology, genetics, immunology, etc.), which is much harder than one could ever imagine I realized somewhere down the line that I had a passion for using analogies to explain things out I would use anything I could get my hands on to explain a concept that just wasn't clicking for someone else, even if it meant making up a little story along the way. That's the same mindset that I bring to my tutoring - I learned a huge portion of my science material by doing this, so why not try to help someone else understand what I did?! Don't be afraid to ask a stupid question. I'd much rather take 20 minutes explaining the same concept 3 different ways, and have someone walk away understanding fully, than to have them nod their head through an entire lesson and leave just as confused as when they arrived. This is the philosophy I use when actually teaching the stuff too; I love to explain things in-depth, but I also know when people just don't need all the details. While in medical school, I have taught biochemical processes to my classmates, as well as students in junior classes, and I absolutely loved it! Now, I tutor mostly high schoolers in Biology, focusing on cellular biology, genetics, and general anatomy and physiology, and I strive to break things down as much as possible in order for someone to understand. I love to adapt my classes to fit the needs of the students. Whether they need an entirely new lesson on something foundational that they never grasped in the first place or need a refresher before an exam, I can meet you wherever you need to be. Mi chiamo Erika e vivo a Palermo con la mia famiglia. La mia vita è sempre stata ricca di eventi formativi ed indimenticabili, che mi hanno aiutato a crescere e maturare molto. Ho iniziato a danzare all’età di 8 anni e dal 2018 fino al 2023 ho operato come ballerina professionista e insegnante di danza orientale e caraibica, un’esperienza che ha forgiato in me una resilienza fuori dal comune, la capacità di gestire lo stress da prestazione e un’attenzione maniacale al dettaglio. Ho iniziato ad insegnare da minorenne ad adulti e bambini in una palestra di Palermo e da là poi ho continuato fino ad un paio di anni fa. Oggi, come studentessa di Medicina a indirizzo Tecnologico (MedIT) presso l'Università degli Studi di Palermo, ho trasposto quel rigore nel campo scientifico. Il mio passaggio dal palcoscenico alla realtà clinica non è stato un vero e proprio cambio di rotta: la dedizione che mettevo nel perfezionare un movimento è la stessa che oggi applico nello studio della chirurgia e delle nuove tecnologie mediche. Ho sempre amato profondamente insegnare perché credo che la conoscenza sia un dono che brilla solo se condiviso. C’è una poesia sottile nel momento in cui un concetto complesso diventa luce negli occhi di persona e sapere di aver contribuito per me è inappagabile… è un prendersi cura dell'altro che va oltre i libri. Ho trasportato la mia passione per l'insegnamento nel mondo universitario, perché ad oggi seguo dei colleghi dei corsi di Medicina e Infermieristica nella preparazione alle sessioni.
