Hello! It's so nice to meet you! I'm truly grateful that you're willing to place your trust and enthusiasm in me — let's embark on this wonderful journey through the Chinese language together. For me, learning a language has never been just about memorizing vocabulary or reciting grammar rules. Language is alive — it flows like a river, carrying the breath, emotions, and wisdom of a people. And Chinese, in particular, embodies this profoundly. It holds not only thousands of years of accumulated heritage, but also the vibrant, living daily experience of 1.4 billion people today. That's exactly why I believe what truly sustains learning isn't pressure, but interest — and the deepest source of interest comes from a genuine curiosity and love for the cultural soil from which a language grows. In my classroom, you won't face tedious drills or mechanical dictation. Instead, we'll walk together into the "beauty" and "practicality" of Chinese: We'll listen to songs — but not just to the melodies. From Teresa Teng's tender grace to Jay Chou's intricate rhymes, from the earthy warmth of folk ballads to the sharp edge of rock, we'll unpack the imagery, emotions, and colloquial expressions woven into the lyrics, allowing you to naturally absorb vocabulary and a feel for the language through music. We'll read poetry — but not just recite it. From "Moonlight shining before my bed" to "The great river flows eastward," from modern verse to light-hearted limericks, I'll guide you in experiencing how Chinese characters use the fewest words to paint the deepest pictures. You'll discover that poetry is no antique; it is the way Chinese people perceive parting, home, time, and love. We'll even pick up a brush and practice calligraphy — not to become master calligraphers, but to let your fingertips feel the structure, balance, and fluidity of Chinese characters. When you write the character meaning "eternity" with your own hand, you'll understand why Chinese characters are not merely tools of communication, but an art form in themselves. And all of this is built around *your* pace. Whether you are an absolute beginner or an advanced learner already conversing fluently; whether you are a five- or six-year-old just beginning to recognize characters, or an adult who has worked for many years — I will tailor the content specifically to suit you. For young children, we'll use stories, animations, games, and nursery rhymes, planting the seeds of Chinese amid laughter. For beginners, we'll start with everyday greetings, shopping, ordering food, and making friends, so that you can speak Chinese from your very first lesson. For intermediate and advanced learners, we can dive into industrial terminology, business correspondence, literary appreciation, or exam preparation. I can even help you polish a speech or a work email, so that your Chinese is not only "correct," but also "appropriate," "polished," and "forceful." More importantly, my classroom is a pressure-free space. I encourage you to ask questions at any time, to jump in at any moment, to speak your mind whenever you like — even if it's not yet fully formed. I especially encourage you to make mistakes, because every mistake is proof of your courage to try, a trace of your active thinking, and a sign that you are truly *using* the language. I won't interrupt you or correct you to the point where you become afraid to speak. Instead, I'll walk alongside you and help turn every mistake into a stepping stone for progress. I have always believed that a good teacher is not one who makes students dependent, but one who helps students need the teacher less and less. My goal is not for you to remember everything I teach — it's for you, after you leave the classroom, to still *want* to listen to a Chinese song, read a little poem, watch a Chinese-language film, or even strike up a conversation with a stranger on the street. So, if you're ready — Let's start with hello, but not stop there. Let's ignite language with passion, and use language to open up a wider world. I look forward to seeing you in class. Together, let's take it slowly, walk steadily, and go far.
