I'm Vanessa Aitken. I have a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Texas at El Paso (United States), and an MSc and a BSc in Chemistry from Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (Chile). I have tutored chemistry privately since 2016 and I was a teaching assistant for nine years: in Organic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis and Organic Spectroscopy at USM, and in the Organic Chemistry teaching laboratory at UTEP, in English, with more than 100 students a year. I spent six years on multistep organic synthesis, identifying every compound by NMR, IR and mass spectrometry, and my PhD was in biochemistry and molecular biology, on how bacteria build their ribosomes. I have four papers published in international journals. I teach organic chemistry from the reaction mechanism, so you learn to predict products instead of memorising them. I work well with students who are anxious about chemistry, and I explain things as many times as needed. After each session I send a summary and practice problems. Classes in Spanish or English.
