And logical thinking is not the same as a shortcut. Children need to understand the concept, the shortcut is the next step after that. Getting shortcuts without enough understanding before will lead them to further problems in the future. I LOVE children and I was trained to teach math to students with unique persuasion, we use mixed techniques between Socratic questioning and direct teaching that has been proven work. I believe this experience gonna bring benefits to your need.
