Hi, My name is Alex Brown. I like to use a student or parent/guardian-led methodology. I am an understanding, kind and patient young man who will listen to the concerns of the student or parent, and try to address these problems through giving them a fundamental understanding of the course material. I will cater to students of all ages. However, before our meeting takes place, I would love for the student or guardian to send an overview of what they would like to achieve/ learn in our first few meetings. But, I am more than happy for the parent or guardian attend the first few meetings if they would like to discuss anything at all. My expert topic is Chemistry. However, I am willing to teach general Science, Mathematics, Physics and Biology. I hold a first class degree in Chemistry. I also have lots of 1 day experiences teaching students individually in classrooms. I have acted as a 1-to-1 mentor, offline, on many occasions, however, I am now seeking to utilise my passions and strengths in chemistry, science and mathematics within an online community. My real-world experiences include several years working at a National Chemistry Lab in the United Kingdom and holding the MRSC status with the Royal Society of Chemistry. Had my first lesson with Alex this evening. He was very prompt in his replies (within minutes) and was able to fit me in for a last minute lesson a few hours later! He had spent a good long time setting up a lesson plan and it definitely showed. I could see his enthusiasm for Chemistry straight away, and he was very friendly and patient. At times, I felt stupid for not knowing the answers but he was very understanding and helped teach me positively where I went wrong.
I'm having two more lessons with him tommorow. Highly recommended! As a Biochemist myself, it's good to see someone with such a passion for Science and I appreciated his 'baby steps' and simple language approaches to my questions. Give Alex a try- it will be worth it. A real confidence booster!
