Mi chiamo Erika e vivo a Palermo con la mia famiglia. La mia vita è sempre stata ricca di eventi formativi ed indimenticabili, che mi hanno aiutato a crescere e maturare molto. Ho iniziato a danzare all’età di 8 anni e dal 2018 fino al 2023 ho operato come ballerina professionista e insegnante di danza orientale e caraibica, un’esperienza che ha forgiato in me una resilienza fuori dal comune, la capacità di gestire lo stress da prestazione e un’attenzione maniacale al dettaglio. Ho iniziato ad insegnare da minorenne ad adulti e bambini in una palestra di Palermo e da là poi ho continuato fino ad un paio di anni fa. Oggi, come studentessa di Medicina a indirizzo Tecnologico (MedIT) presso l'Università degli Studi di Palermo, ho trasposto quel rigore nel campo scientifico. Il mio passaggio dal palcoscenico alla realtà clinica non è stato un vero e proprio cambio di rotta: la dedizione che mettevo nel perfezionare un movimento è la stessa che oggi applico nello studio della chirurgia e delle nuove tecnologie mediche. Ho sempre amato profondamente insegnare perché credo che la conoscenza sia un dono che brilla solo se condiviso. C’è una poesia sottile nel momento in cui un concetto complesso diventa luce negli occhi di persona e sapere di aver contribuito per me è inappagabile… è un prendersi cura dell'altro che va oltre i libri. Ho trasportato la mia passione per l'insegnamento nel mondo universitario, perché ad oggi seguo dei colleghi dei corsi di Medicina e Infermieristica nella preparazione alle sessioni.
