I have taught across various ages and skill levels and am adaptable to the student's needs, preferences and goals. I prefer a practical approach, and I want to make sure that you can apply what you have learned after the very first lesson. Firstly, I will discuss what you want to get out of our lessons and what your current experience level is - and do not worry if you are a complete beginner! We will then look at some topics, subject to your exact goals, and will go through them bit by bit. We will cover some music theory too, but don't worry, we will make this practical and fun. Last but not least in the slightest, we will look at some of your favourite songs and break them down, developing your active listening skills and your ability to reference songs. And should that be of interest, we can discuss some career options and opportunities in music. I am a Logic Pro user, but I am a huge proponent of using the tools that suit your needs best. So pick your DAW of choice and let's figure it out together! I will also give you a good list of resources - videos to watch in your free time, websites to refer to when creating on your own, and a fair amount of free and cheap plugins that can kickstart your music journey.

Hi! my name is Tony Parr, I am a highly experienced teacher with Current active experience lecturing and teaching in Secondary schools, Further and Higher Education at colleges. my main subjects are Design, Art and Media. I have 30 years of experience having taught over a 1000 students on GCSE, A Level, Diploma and Foundation Degree programmes in colleges and Schools. I am an ex Professional Graphic Designer and Art Director working in London prior to teaching. I have a current and progressive active (Course Director currently delivering projects and courses) experience in both theory and practice taught at key stages 2,3,4 and 5 (from secondary to degree). Subjects: 1. Sound and Music production, use of digital tools in sound and music (Digital Audio workstations - DAW's) for film soundtrack, Foley, FX and ambient scoring. I use Logic Pro, Native instruments, Omnisphere plug-ins, Adobe Audition and many other sound tools in conjunction with video editors such as Adobe Premier Pro. 2. Digital video & Film theory and design using mainly Adobe Premier Pro, Audition and Photoshop for sound and vision output. I teach film design subjects: Documentary, Drama, Journalism shorts, youtube etc. 3. Graphic Design, theory and design layout and typography using Photoshop, Indesign and other tools. I teach both for online and paper based publishing. 4. Typographic Design and use for all publishing. Type language use and delivery in context with the type of vehicle (press, promotional, advertising, online media etc). 5. Portfolio design and presentation. I can help you create suitable portfolios for entry into FE, HE courses or the Creative Sector. I am a current FE Course Director and have been a HE Degree Course Director as well as a Production Director in Advertising. I will teach from the subject theory with the software at the level you require and will design the programme to your needs. There will be set tasks with outcomes that build in 30 minute stages The final outcome will be a portfolio of work that you can use for a set purpose such as access to a full time course in education, application for a job or for exhibiting your work. My courses are online, interactive and always resulting in produced work by you. I can set projects and advise how you might develop a portfolio for your future.
