A mí me apasiona la filosofía y las grandes preguntas. Me encanta analizar el porqué de las cosas y perderme en conversaciones sobre cualquier tema: desde la cultura y los viajes, hasta esos pensamientos profundos que surgen a medianoche. Creo que la mejor forma de dominar un idioma no es memorizando reglas, sino usándolo para conectar con otra persona.
¿Cómo son mis sesiones?
Mis clases son, ante todo, un espacio de calma y conversación real. Aquí el estrés no existe: olvídate del miedo a equivocarte, porque en mis sesiones los errores son la mejor señal de que te estás atreviendo a hablar. Trabajaremos con una inmersión natural donde, aunque no usemos el inglés, mi paciencia y el uso de gestos o imágenes harán que empieces a pensar en español casi sin darte cuenta. Tú eres el protagonista; me apasiona escuchar y quiero que este sea un lugar para que te expreses y me cuentes tu visión del mundo. Así, mientras compartimos una charla interesante, irás puliendo tu fluidez de forma orgánica y relajada, como si estuvieras conversando con un amigo.

My lessons are primarily based on HSK textbooks, although I do incorporate elements from other Mandarin textbooks. HSK is the official standard by which non-native Mandarin speakers are judged in China. After taking my lessons, my students will be able to acquire an official HSK certificate which will be recognised by all agencies in China.
I know that Chinese characters have always been the most scary part for students learning Chinese, so I have my own way of using pictures and tracing their origins to help students easily understand these characters.
For children, I will use age-appropriate teaching materials. I will engage them actively in the classroom through games, music, and pictures, to help them love learning Chinese!
I also give homework to my students, but it's not mandatory. It's just to help them review and practice what they've learned. There's no pressure to complete my homework.

¡Hola! Me llamo David. Tengo 33 años y soy originalmente de Florida, USA. Me crié en España y actualmente vivo en China, por lo que hablo español fluido y chino a nivel conversacional.
En China enseño inglés como primera y segunda lengua dentro del currículo IB en una escuela internacional a estudiantes de primero y segundo de bachillerato. También soy examinador de Cambridge IGCSE ESL. Además, pasé algo más de dos años enseñando inglés aquí en Classgap durante la pandemia, acumulando 2.317 horas de clase. Antes de la pandemia, estuve enseñando en una universidad aquí en China y en otra escuela internacional.
En cuanto a mi formación y cualificaciones, cuento con una licencia para enseñar en Washington, DC, USA, tanto en escuelas públicas como privadas (lo que sería la oposición en España), un Máster en Educación por la Universidad Anglia Ruskin, un Diploma de nivel 7 (equivalente al nivel académico de un máster) en Enseñanza de Inglés como Lengua Extranjera (DELTA) otorgado por la Universidad de Cambridge, un Grado en Inglés y Literatura por la universidad DGUT, un Certificado de nivel 5 en Enseñanza de Inglés como Lengua Extranjera (CELTA) por la Universidad de Cambridge y un Certificado de 120 horas en enseñanza de inglés como segunda lengua por ITTT.
Respecto a mi metodología, realmente depende de lo que necesites. Muchos de mis estudiantes aprecian mi método relajado y conversacional cuando su objetivo es mejorar su inglés general. Muchos han descrito mis clases como “café con David”, donde principalmente hablamos y nos enfocamos en los errores que van surgiendo, en vez de estudiar gramática o seguir libros de texto tradicionales que, como todos sabemos, no siempre son la forma más efectiva de aprender a usar el idioma.
Para estudiantes que están preparando exámenes, nuestro foco principal es el examen. De nuevo, no veo práctico estudiar un libro entero de gramática para luego sentarte al examen. Por eso, lo que hacemos (y lo que le ha funcionado a la mayoría de mis estudiantes) es practicar directamente con el examen. En otras palabras, lo hacemos juntos, vemos los errores que cometes y trabajamos las estrategias específicas del examen. Esas son las zonas en las que creo que tenemos que enfocarnos, ahorrando de esta manera tiempo y esfuerzo al centrarnos únicamente en las áreas que más te hacen falta.
Debido a que, como he mencionado anteriormente, vivo en China y estoy trabajando en una escuela internacional, solo estoy disponible los fines de semana y, debido al cambio horario, durante unas horas limitadas. Sin embargo, si tuvieras urgencia debido a un examen o algo similar, comunícate conmigo y juntos podemos ver si podemos encontrar una solución.
