Hi everyone! My name is Justin. Clinically memorizing English phrases and advanced vocabulary from a textbook might be a frustrating or boring experience for you. That's why I encourage learners to ask any questions for anything they have encountered in their daily lives, whether the questions are from a political speech they have heard, a video game dialogue they have read, or a complicated sentence structure in a novel. Learning topics that are pertinent to your everyday life will help cement English phrases and advanced vocabulary into your long-term memory. Additionally, both native speakers and English learners have trouble with grammar, so don't worry! Students in NY public schools don't formally learn grammar, like how to use a semicolon or an m-dash, until 11th grade of high school, so I had to implement smart and efficient strategies. These strategies led me to score perfectly on the SAT grammar section, be NYS Seal of Biliteracy certified and be UFT Certificate of Merit of English certified. Grammar is not about being a native speaker or English learner, but about the smart strategies that can be implemented. Furthermore, we can practice speaking in Standard American English. Growing up with an immigrant parent, I gained a lot of personal experience when I helped to correct the nuances that separate someone as a native speaker and someone who isn't. Lastly, we can dissect through an article or research paper to understand the complicated words and sentence structures that usually come along with those documents. I look forward to meeting you!
