Autodesk Maya MFA with 10 Years in VFX Industry and 18 Years of Maya Experience I have used Autodesk Maya professionally in the film industry for 3 years. During this time, I primarily used Maya to set-dress fully-CG environments, including the jungles of Avatar and the forests of Epic and Rio 2. My use of Maya included importing and exporting assets, transforming and constraining them, creating hierarchies, sending renders to Renderman, writing basic MEL scripts, modeling a few proxy objects, and animating some keep-alive cycles for vegetation. I learned Maya while studying animation in the graduate program at UCLA, and have been using the software for the past 18 years for my professional, academic, and personal projects. I have advanced skills in animation, intermediate skills in modeling, rigging, and cameras, and am proficient in materials, texturing, lighting, rendering, and scripting. Animation MFA in Animation with 10 Years in Film Industry I have an MFA in Film & Television from UCLA, with a focus in animation. My student work includes 3D and 2D CG animation, stop motion, and hand-drawn and cell animation. I have studied character animation extensively and have done some minor animation for professional projects. Film MFA in Film & TV with 10 Years in Film Industry I have worked for 10 years in the feature film industry as a visual effects artist (CG set-dressing, layout, and matchmoving) at Weta Digital, Blue Sky Studios, and Rhythm & Hues Studios. I have an MFA in Film & Television from UCLA. I was a Teaching Assistant in the UCLA animation graduate program for the first-year film production, storyboard, and drawing courses. I taught stop motion animation and game design to middle school kids at a camp. I have freelanced for a number of small animation, modeling, and texturing projects. I have written, directed, animated, and done most of the other creative and technical work on several animated short films. I worked on professional live-action film sets as a stand-in, art department PA, and background actor. I was the cinematographer, camera operator, AC, gaffer, and grip on several live-action student short films.

I'm a 3D artist with expertise in animation, modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, and rendering. My tools of choice are Maya, 3ds Max, V-Ray, After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop. I'm a 3D artist with expertise in animation, modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, and rendering. My tools of choice are Maya, 3ds Max, V-Ray, After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop. As a veteran visual effects artist with 10 years of film industry experience, I am excited to share what I've learned with you. Filmmaking is my passion, and I enjoy discussing it from a liberal arts perspective that I believe makes it accessible to a wide audience. Maya was the primary application that I used while working on Avatar at Weta Digital, and Epic and Rio 2 at Blue Sky Studios. My professional experience includes CG set dressing, layout, and matchmoving, but I am proficient in most stages of the visual effects/animation pipeline. I have made several animated short films from start to finish using Maya, Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere, so I am capable of tutoring students in any of those programs (at any age or grade level). I also worked as a 3D generalist in the visualization industry for two years, where I used 3ds Max, V-Ray, After Effects, Premiere, and Photoshop to provide all stages of the 3D pipeline, from modeling through compositing. My personal approach to tutoring is to first assess your skill level with the subject area, and then to focus on the specific topics that will enable you to improve the most, according to your unique goal. Whatever the task, I look forward to helping you achieve success!
