My name is Brenda. I’m 29 years old and live in the Netherlands. I’m a language nerd and enjoy talking about a range of topics including music, art, history, cooking, traveling "Supernatural" and dystopian fiction. I have experience teaching A2-C1 (pre-intermediate to advanced) English students (General English) and exam preparation (FCE).
I always use coursebooks in lessons as a guide and select additional materials to make the lessons more engaging and better suited to my student(s). I believe communication is key to learning a language and there will be a lot of talking in our lessons. Of course, reading, listening and writing practise will be part of the lessons too, but this will depend on how strong you already are and how much you want to improve in these areas.
The coursebook I will use as a guide in our lessons is "English File", for General English. For exam preparation (FCE), I will use "Ready for First". However, I do have access to several other books so we can change things up once in a while. Don't worry if you don't have coursebooks, I will make sure you have all the materials you need before the lesson.
Dutch lessons:
Hi! My name's Brenda, I'm 29 years old and I live in the Netherlands.
I'm a certified English teacher, but I would love to gain experience teaching Dutch (it's my native language). At the moment, I'm doing courses to get my certificate (in teaching Dutch as a second language). Because of this, I only offer classes for (complete) beginners (level A0 on the CEFR) and I will work with you to get you up to level A2.
At the start, our lessons will focus on getting the basics of the language right (basic grammar and vocabulary). After that, it'll become more flexible and we can focus on practising situations and conversations that you're interested in.
-- At the moment I'm not taking on new Dutch students, only new English students.
Cancellation policy:
Please let me know 8 hours in advance if you need to cancel a class. In that case, we'll simply reschedule. A late cancellation unfortunately means paying for the class anyway. I hope you understand.
